In an interview with Platform , he explains how the band name is based off a friends with benefits relationship. He was with a girl and they use to smoke after they hooked up , and he enjoyed the feeling of that ritual. One night , he was with her and the name just appeared in his head. He prefers to record outside of studios because he believes the setting and atmosphere can be essential to the music.
Jacob Tomsky is an american musician that rose to fame as the drummer in Cigarettes After Sex. He is also an author who has published a series of books , one called “Heads in Beds: A Reckless Memoir of Hotels , Hustles and So-Called Hospitality”. He wrote about his experience as a hotel clerk , working in a restaurant , valet parker , and how he has a unique view of the two things.
Randall Miller is an American musician, composer , producer and songwriter who plays the bass in “Cigarettes After Sex”. He has a desire to cultivate unique music. He began performing in local venues and experimenting with different instruments until he found his passion as a bassist. He weaves his personal journey intricately into his music , similar to what Gonzalez does as well. They both write about relationships , struggles , and are overall inspired from their own life so the music has more depth and emotion for listeners.
